Abstract:

Chahmir Zn-Pb deposit is one of several sediment-hosted Zn-Pb deposits (e.g., Koushk, Zarigan, Dareh Dehu & Cheshmeh Firuzeh) located in southeast of Bafq basin hosted within a Early Cambrian volcano-sedimentary sequence, simultaneous with global Cambrian ocean anoxic eVENT, forming in a rift environment. The host rock units of the Chahmir Zn-Pb deposit includes organic-rich black siltstones with intercalations of tuff and silty tuff overlain by green carbonaceous tuffs. Based on nature of sulfide mineralization, mineralogy and textures of sulfide minerals, the Chahmir deposit can be divided into four different facies. Based on their situation towards the VENT of mineralization fluid, these facies include: 1) A massive ore facies (VENT Complex) forms the thicker part of generally massive higher grade ores in east of the deposit. This facies includes two subfacies: the sulfide-silica-carbonate subfacies in center of massive ore and sulfide-carbonate subfacies around it. Sulfide minerals are observed as massive, replacement, vein-veinlets and brecciated colloform textures.2) Vein-veinlets facies (Feeder Zone) includes sulfide veins and silica that form as a scissors of host rocks under the massive ore facies. Vein-veinlets and replacement textures form main features of this facies.3) Bedded ore facies which is thinner than the massive ore facies and is characterized by layered and banded feature and low grade ore. This facies occurs as stratiform laminated and banded sulfides contemporaneous with the formation of the host rocks.4) Distal facies is formed at west of the deposit which is actually a sedimentary equivalent of bedded ore facies. Main characteristics of this facies are presence of disseminated pyrite, banded chert and barite. The most important characteristics of mineralization at the Chahmir deposit such as tectonic setting, host rocks, mineralogy, diffrent facies, show similarities to siltstone and shale hosted Zn-Pb Sedex type deposits. Accordingly, Chahmir is regarded as a Selwyn-Type (VENT PROXIMAL) SEDEX deposit.

Abstract:

Since Salvia genus was used in ancient medicine and its applicationin culinary, flavor cosmetics, food and drinking industries is important, we investigated the composition of the essential oil of S. compressa. The aerial parts of this species were collected from Jahrom in Fars province at the altitude of 900 m and isolated by water distillation. Then the essential oil was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-four compounds were identified in the essential oil of S. compressa and the major components were tau-cadinol (36%), caryophyllene oxide (15.7%), geraniol (10.5%) and borneol (9.3%).

Abstract:

Introduction: Recently, PROXIMAL femur geometry has been identified as a risk factor for hip fracture, and studies about the association of PROXIMAL femoral geometric indices with these fractures worldwide have reported inconsistent results. In this study, this association was studied in an Iranian population. Materials and Methods: In this case control study that was performed in Ayatollah Kashani Hospital in 1395 in Shahrekord, 81 patients with PROXIMAL femur fracture were trained with low energy and 83 healthy subjects over 50 years old. After recording the demographic data, the pelvic radiograph was taken and femoral neck width (FNW), femoral Shaft Diameter (FSD), femoral neck axis length (FNAL), hip axis length (HAL) and neck shaft angle (NSA) parameters were measured in both groups using orthopedic ruler. Data analysis was performed using stata software. Results: The mean age of case group (70. 81± 13. 86 years) was significantly higher than control group (61. 35± 9. 89 years) (P=0. 00). Intrestingly, the mean height and weight of case group were lower than control group (P<0. 05). After adjusting for age, among the geometric indices, only FNW was lower in case group than control group (P=0. 01), and there was no significant difference in FNAL, HAL, FSD and NSA indices between the two groups (P>0. 05). Conclusion: In this study older age, female sex, shorter heights, and less weight were associated with the incidence of PROXIMAL femoral fractures. Conclusively, FNAL, HAL, FSD, and NSA could not predict PROXIMAL femoral fractures in our samples. However, FNW reduction significantly increased the risk of femoral neck fractures in both male and female patients.

Abstract:

Oliveria genus belongs to Umbeliferae family and only has one species, Oliveria decumbens VENT endemic to Iran. On the other hand, essential oils are of secondary materials in plants widely used in the food, hygienic and pharmaceutical industry, and also as antimicrobial compounds. Oliveria decumbens was collected from northwest mountains of Kuh-dasht in Lorestan province. Afterward, plant materials were dried in shade and hydro distillated using a Clevenger apparatus. The oil was analyzed by capillary GC and GC/MS. The anatomical studies were carried out using distaining method with Bismark brown and methyl green. GC and GC/MS analysis of the essential oil resulted in identification of 16 compounds_representing 96.4% of the total oil. Anatomical studies showed that the surface of leaves was covered by non-glandular hairs while in cross section of the stems, the secretory canals were observed in cortex region.

Abstract:

Background: The genus Zosimia is one of Umbelliferae family, widely distributed in different world regions, and has important essential oils. This genus is represented in Iran by two species: Z. radians Boiss. & Hohen. And Z. absinthifolia (VENT.) Link, which Z. radians is endemic plant. Objective: Investigation and identification of essential oil compositions of Zosimia absinthifolia collected from Khalkhal area Method: Water - distilled essential oil from the aerial parts of Zosimia absinthifolia (VENT.) Link, collected from Khalkhal area in June 2004, analyzed by GC and GC/MS.Results: Among the 21 identified components constituting 96% of the oil, Octyl acetate (24.69%), b– Caryophyllene (22.24%), and (Z) - b- Ocimen (8.9%) were found to be the major constituents. Conclusion: In the essential oil of the plant, sesquiterpenes predominated over monoterpenes.
